In a recent annual shareholders meeting, Capcom confirmed that 80% of its games sales are Digital.
” While it ultimately depends on how our customers behave going forward, for the time being we are promoting our digital strategy with an objective of 90%, since there are some customers who prefer to own discs, We aim to continue expanding our business performance by maximizing the benefits of digital sales, which include being able to provide our content both for longer periods of time and throughout the world. “
According to Games Industry, Capcom’s digital sales are growing rapidly. Last year, the digital sales made up about 53% of the company’s total sales. This year however, digital sales have grown up to take 80% of total sales.
A lot of companies are already taking more care to promote digital copies of their games to reduce the cost of making cases and shipping them.
