Free Fire Unveils Its Esports Tournament Map for 2023
Garena has announced the 2023 esports tournament roadmap for Free Fire, introducing updates to the international esports tournament format. The first-ever Free Fire SEA Invitationals (FFSI) is set to begin in May, and the Free Fire World Series (FFWS) will take place in November.
These updates include changes to the tournament structure, which will now feature two stages – the Group Stage and the Grand Finals – in an extended tournament period. These updates aim to enhance the competitive scene for both players and fans.
One team from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region will represent the area in the FFSI. Currently, the Free Fire MEA Super Star tournament is ongoing from February 18 to March 18, 2023. The winner will qualify for FFSI. This tournament features 12 teams in two groups from across the MENA region, including top teams like WASK from Morocco, ALPHA from Algeria, Clear Vision from Kuwait, Viking from Iraq, and Dictators from Tunisia.
Fans and Players Look Forward to FFSI and FFWS in 2023
This year, Free Fire will launch a new multi-region tournament called the Free Fire SEA Invitationals (FFSI), scheduled for May. Over three weekends, 18 teams from countries like Malaysia, Cambodia, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, Taiwan, Pakistan, Europe, and MENA will compete.
The Free Fire World Series (FFWS) will return in November, bringing together the best teams from regions like Brazil and Latin America. Fans can expect an enhanced esports experience.
Local Free Fire tournaments will also be held worldwide in two phases: February to April and July to October. These tournaments will determine team rankings and qualifications for FFSI and FFWS.
A New Tournament Format
Free Fire introduces a new format for international tournaments, featuring Group Stages and Grand Finals. The Group Stage will span two weeks, with 18 teams competing for 12 spots in the Grand Finals. Teams will be split into groups, with each group playing six matches daily. The top 12 teams, based on total points, will advance.
The Grand Finals will consist of 18 matches over three days. Teams will aim to secure top positions based on the total points accumulated during these matches.
Raising the Competitive Scene
