Quick Review of the Tennis Game Match Point, Available on Game Pass
The game has a small download size of approximately 4.5GB and surprisingly supports Arabic, which is particularly helpful for the tutorial, especially for players who are not familiar with tennis.
Graphics:
The graphics are very basic. Character details and designs are subpar, not even up to the standards of PS3-era games. Animations are simple, and the crowd visuals are poor. The game also suffers from screen tearing and occasional frame drops. Overall, the technical and visual aspects are very underwhelming.
Game Modes:
The game features Quick Match and Career Mode, where you create and train your character. There’s also a Training Mode and an online multiplayer option, which is a nice addition. However, the content is very limited. The roster includes only a few players and doesn’t feature many famous names. Courts are restricted to three surfaces: clay, hard, and grass, with no distinct stadium designs beyond these options.
Gameplay:
Gameplay is the game’s strongest aspect, offering some depth. There are four different shot types you can use, beyond just adjusting the power and direction of the ball. These include spin shots, drop shots, flat shots, and more. While the gameplay is decent, the overall experience feels lifeless due to the lack of commentary or sound effects. You mostly hear the sound of the ball and occasionally the players grunting, reminiscent of Rafael Nadal’s famous grunts 😀.
Overall, Match Point is a very simple tennis game offered for free on Game Pass. Considering the lack of good tennis games on the market right now, like the classics from Virtua Tennis by SEGA, it’s worth a try if you’re a tennis fan with an Xbox. At only 4.5GB, you have nothing to lose.
